The spinning of the gyroscope creates a centrifugal force, which results in a centripetal force of airflow (or Higgs flow in a vacuum) by resistance, which works eventually on the vertical circle by the horizontal one, which is connected to the rod, and then it’s force times length.
The horizontal circle keeps itself parallel to the spinning disc, while the rod is perpendicular to the disc, so it stays upright when spinning fast enough if it wouldn’t be for the rotation of the planet, and the centrifugal force increases quadratic with the velocity, but it wrecks at too fast speeds.
